VA Tech UK

VA Tech (www.vatech.at) is a multinational energy, metallurgical and infrastructure group based in Austria. Its hydropower division is very active in China, especially as one of the main suppliers for pumped storage hydroturbine units.

VA Tech UK is part of the group and is the transformer and other T&D product manufacturer.

In October 2002, VA Tech UK and the then Solaires Power International was negotiating over a consulting services of the chinese power T&D industry. After a Marathon 1.5 month negotiation, price and other details of technology and commerce were finalized, and my invoice was sent out, and suddenly, there was nothing to be heard from them.

I was simply shocked by VA's business behavior. Later it was found out they passed over the consultation work to its subsidiary in Guangzhou.

Lesson two: don't trust any multinational.
