EBAxis Network |
I have never discussed with any single company about an employment for more than a month. But his time: half a year. Believe me or not ! |
The EBAxis Network Company, invested by an American chinese from Atlanta, and situated in the Office Building of the Xiacheng Enterprise Incubation Center with four rooms - one large room for technicians, one reserved for network team, another for administration and accounting and the last for the GM - was a startup itself. Its old business was to export accessories and components of motors from China to the US. Mr Charles Qian was the name of the man responsible for its China operation. I guess EBAxis was his private business rather than his company's. |
They wanted to enter into the chinese e-business market by providing two services - MIS system engineering for enterprises and government and commodities distribution systems via Internet. |
For that purpose they need qualified people. I came at the right time. |
In mid May we began to discuss about the job. Mr Qian is quite a business man. He offered a salary providing you with sufficient food to survive, but no more. I felt disgraceful to bargain with him about his offer. I didn't counter-offer - the gap was too big. |
He called me about two months later, unexpected. His offer improved a bit but still far away from my lowest standard. We stopped the negotiations. |
He was eager to have me work with him. He invited me to his hotel of stay, to tee cafeteria and he came to my lodging (possibly to observe how well-being I was in order to guess my bottom line of salary level). Within 5 or 6 months we held 7-8 negotiation. I insisted on my bottom line - and he finally yielded - he promised me a salary of 15 000 a month, and a position of the COO of his company in Hangzhou. That was my minimum requirement to work in a petit company like his. You have no big welfare, you have no feeling of reputation of working in a multinational. If you could not succeed in your business in a tiny company, your future road will be ruined. A higher position and a higher salary were the only compensation. |
But he did not fulfill his commitment. Since his last appearance, I have never heard him. Even his website, once full of information, disappeared together with him. |
His company was still there. About two months ago, I was passing by his office, saw almost all older guys left except the secretary. He has no e-business any more. |
