Manufacturing Information Systems (MIS)
(Feb., 2002)
Only half a month was enough for me to retreat from this new domain.

The idea of trying MIS was based on my impulse to provide IT services to the manufacturing industries, especially those of the power equipment manufacturing. Because I have been in that area for many years, and I was also working in a steam turbine manufacturer, and a boiler manufacturer in Shanghai for a year respectively, that was a reasonable conclusion.

I changed to website in one week and contacted many companies as usual. No answer. Stop. That's all.

However, one week later after my decision to pull out of MIS, there were telephone calls for a software requirement in the CAD domain for electric circuit breaker design.

MIS - Manufacturing Information System - is a very broad concept of information system in that it includes all software and automation system related with manufacturing process, for example:
  • CAD - Computer Aided Design
  • CAE - Computer Aided Engineering
  • CAM - Computer Aided Machining
  • CIMS - Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems
  • CAQ - Computer Aided Quality
  • ...

The list is almost endless.

What I wanted to do and what I can do is to provide assistance to OEM software vendors in localization, tech support, maintenance etc.
